Sarah Wilson

Mrs. Byam is starting her second year at Coppell Classical Academy, last year she worked with the Special Education Team. For the 2018-2019 school year she will be taking on the role of one of our Kindergarten teachers, a position she is very excited to step into. Mrs. Byam received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Women’s University located in Denton Texas in 2015. Her background includes roles in Special Education at CCA and in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, over 20 years in early childhood, and three years as curriculum/children’s event coordinator at her home church. Mrs. Byam is looking forward to getting to know all her new students and watching them learn and grow over the school year.

Staci Hollar

Mrs. Hollar is in her 12th year of working in elementary education. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Hardin Simmons University in 2000, then worked as a Library Aide at Cottonwood Creek Elementary in Coppell for 3 years. She then went on to teach Kindergarten at Elliott Elementary in Irving ISD for 3 years, as well. After having her first child, she stayed home for several years to care for her growing family. From 2013-2015, she taught Pre-K at First Kids Academy, and then went on to teach Kindergarten at Legacy, which is a homeschool enrichment program. The last 2 years, she has had the privilege to work as a Reading Interventionist for HEB ISD for K-4thgrade. Mrs. Hollar enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends and is passionate about serving in her church. She has been married for almost 14 years to Randy Hollar and they have 3 amazing kids- Allie-9, Chase-8 and Josie-6 and their dog, Scout. She recently moved to Flower Mound and is new to the Coppell Classical Academy family! She is looking forward teaching Kindergarten and creating community with the parents and the CCA staff!

Alison Tyndall

Mrs. Tyndall is in her second year as a full-time elementary school teacher. In 2009, she graduated from Oklahoma Christian Universtiy with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. She spent almost 3 years teaching preschool at Fort Worth Christian School in N. Richland Hills, TX. During this time she earned her certification for EC-6. She and her husband Brad have a daughter, Emma, who is 6 and will be in 1st grade this year! Mrs. Tyndall loves sports especially University of Oklahoma college football (Boomer Sooner!!!) as well as the Dallas Mavericks and the Texas Rangers!! She enjoys spending time at the lake and camping as well.

She is looking forward to another amazing year here at Coppell Classical Academy and can't wait to instill in her kids a love for learning!

1st Grade

Dorothy Kadane

Mrs. Kadane is so excited to be starting her third year here at Coppell Classical Academy, her second year in first grade. She a Baylor graduate and has taught in the Allen and Coppell school districts, and loves now being a part of the CCA family. Mrs. Kadane has three children of her own, and knows how important education is. She feels it is a privilege to get to work with all the wonderful students at this school.

Johanna Hewlett

Rachel Wiseman

Ms. Wiseman is in her third year teaching first grade at Coppell Classical Academy. She graduated with a B.A. degree in Counseling from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. After graduating college, Ms. Wiseman worked for Grapevine/Colleyville School District and then as an Educational Counselor at East Central University. She received her master’s in School Counseling from East Central University in 2012.

In 2015, Ms. Wiseman and her family moved back to Texas, and she decided to follow her dream of becoming a teacher. She loves working with children and helping them develop a love for learning.

2nd Grade

Hannah Jeter

Mrs. Jeter is in her fourth year as a full-time elementary school teacher. In 2009, she graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a bachelor's degree in Health and Kinesiology. After spending a few years in the corporate world, she realized that her real passion in life was teaching in early childhood. Not long after, she earned her teaching certificate for grades K through 6. She and her husband Chris have three children, Maddix (7), Paxton (4) and Phoenix (14m). This is her third year with Coppell Classical Academy and fourth year with ResponsiveEd.

Kayla Doolittle

Hello, everyone! My name is Kayla Doolittle, and I am excited to be teaching second grade this year at Coppell Classical Academy and honored to be a part of this outstanding community. It is important for my students to love learning as much as I love teaching. I am a certified teacher in Texas and have successfully taught second and third grades for several years, developing a passion for this age group. It is my role to help students learn the skills, motivations, and tools needed to academically and socially master the world around them. I earned my B.A. in Communications, magna cum laude, from the University of Denver. I’ve been happily married for 28 years, and we have a daughter and a son . In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, cooking, and long, morning walks! I especially enjoy boating at Lake Texoma where my parents live. My goal is to give each of my students the best education possible in a caring and supportive learning environment. I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect. I also believe that the student, parent, and teacher must unite as a team and work together to make school an enjoyable, successful experience with measurable results. I am looking forward to a positive, productive school year!

Sherryl Lafortune

Karen Porter

Mrs. Porter graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Communication Disorders. She worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for six years before becoming a classroom teacher. She has served for 20 years in both public and private schools teaching grades PK- 3rd. She and her husband John have two children. Grant (20) and Haley (18) both attend Auburn University in Auburn, AL. Mrs. Porter is very excited that they chose to continue the Auburn family tradition even though they are 12 hours away. This will be Mrs. Porter's fifth year at Coppell Classical Academy.

Kati Britt

Mrs. Britt is in her first year here at Coppell Classical. She has previously taught 4th and 5th grades, but is so excited about her new adventure in 3rd grade. Mrs. Britt graduated from Texas A & M University in 2012 and is a loud and proud Aggie. She has a passion for making learning fun and loves to see her students' confidence grow as they begin to learn and discover new things. That is the greatest reward.

Mrs.Britt lives in Corinth with her fiance and three fur children. They enjoy traveling and trying new experiences.

Her certifications include: EC-6 Generalist, Bilingual Supplemental, and ESL.

Stephanie Blackmon

Hello, my name is Stephanie Blackmon, and I am the 4th grade ELAR teacher. This is my fifth year teaching at Coppell Classical Academy, and my 10th year being a Responsive Education parent! I graduated with a B.A. Degree in Journalism and a minor in English from Colorado State University. After spending many years working as a copy editor in the corporate world, I turned my focus towards working with children in both faith-based and homeschool environments, and ultimately decided to obtain my teacher certification.

I am married to an amazing husband and we have four children. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family, and we have a lot of fun cheering on our favorite sports teams--the Packers, Broncos, and Warriors! I love reading and writing and sharing my passion for those things with my students. I'm looking forward to a wonderful 4th grade adventure with your scholars this year!

Brian Washam

Mr. Washam received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas, and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from UNT, as well. After working with adult ESL students for several years, Mr. Washam decided to transition into teaching at the grade-school level. This is Mr. Washam’s second year teaching math, and his first year teaching at Coppell Classical Academy, and he is very excited to be teaching at a classical-model school.

Mr. Washam and his wife enjoy traveling, camping, and going on adventures, and sometimes they are able to bring their dog, Zoe, with them. Mr. Washam also enjoys drinking coffee and reading any time he has the chance to do so.

Gay Marrs

5th Grade

Barbara Bailey

Mrs. Bailey is in her fifth year of teaching fifth grade language arts and social studies at Coppell Classical Academy. She was born and raised in Arkansas and is the daughter of a teacher and school superintendent. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in Elementary Education and a minor in English, Mrs. Bailey taught in the public school system for nineteen years. She taught fifth grade language arts and social studies for sixteen years, English and speech at the high school level for two years, and reading/math remediation in grades 4 to 6 for one year. In 2009, she and her family moved to Texas where she worked as a long-term substitute teacher in grades 2 to 5 before accepting a full-time position with Responsive Education Solutions.

Angel Formby

Mrs. Formby is so excited to begin her second year teaching at Coppell Classical Academy. She teaches 5th grade Science and History. Mrs. Formby received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX.

Mrs. Formby feels she has the best job in the world, because she gets to impart knowledge and life skills to the amazing fifth graders of CCA. Mrs. Formby is married to her college sweetheart, and has a son in college and a daughter in High School. Mrs. Formby loves to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoys doing DIY projects, reading, and walking her dog in her free time.

Justin Mullikin

Mr. Mullikin teaches 5th grade math at Coppell Classical Academy. He is the son of a teacher and business owner. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology he pursued jobs outside of education. This included working at bank, managing a store, and becoming a financial advisor.

During this time he became a father of twin boys and reconsidered his profession. He moved to Texas and decided to be a 5th grade teacher. During his first year teaching he rediscovered and rekindled his love for math. This is his third year with Responsive Education Solutions and his second year at Coppell Classical Academy.

Middle School

Derek Ray

Coach Ray graduated from University of North Texas where he ran track and cross country. He had a major in Kinesiology and minor in History. His favorite college team is the Arkansas Razorbacks with North Texas a close second.

Seth Herrell

I was born and raised in the great state of Texas. I am from the eastern part of Texas but moved to Denton in 2008. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in 2011, and I am currently pursuing my master’s in Public Administration. I began teaching in 2012 in Mesquite and have continued teaching since. I enjoy playing guitar and singing. I also enjoy coffee and a great book.

Donna Molina

Marady Briggs

Mrs. Briggs is one of the middle school science teachers at Coppell Classical Academy and also a Co-lead teacher. This will be her second year with CCA. Previously, she was a high school science teacher with another charter school district for six years and also an Instructional Coach for two of those years. As an Instructional Coach, she supported teachers by providing guidance, training, and other resources as needed to focus on practical strategies for engaging students and improving their learning. This year will be her eighth year teaching. She received her Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Arlington. Mrs. Briggs has a Level 4 certification in Instrumental Enrichment which focuses on enhancing the cognitive functions that are necessary for academic and personal success. She is married and recently celebrated her second anniversary. She is a bit of an Anglophile and recently traveled to England for the very first time with her husband, Rob.

Erika Cook

My name is Erika Cook and this is my first year teaching at Coppell Classical Academy. I love teaching math and helping students find their way through math. My motto is “I take the scary out of math.” I do my best to break math down in such a way that students no longer fear math.

I have two teenage boys that are active in sports and band. My oldest is a sophomore this year and my youngest is in eighth grade. I am married to a Marine veteran that is the true love of my life. As a family we enjoy camping, playing spades, and trying different cuisines from new places. I am excited to be here this year and look forward to what adventures the year brings.

Sheilina Bernard

Ms. Bernard is a mother of three children, two daughters and a son, and she loves spending time with her family. She graduated from Polytechnic University with a MS degree in Management of Technology. After many years in the corporate world, she realized her true calling and passion is teaching in Special Education. She further went ahead and got her MS in Special Education from Hunter College (CUNY) in New York City. She has taught for the past 6 years in Public Middle and High Schools. She recently relocated to Texas from NYC to be closer to her family. Ms. Bernard is happy to be a part of CCA's family and this is her second year with Coppell Classical Academy.

Christina Benavides

Ms. Benavides graduated from Texas A&M University - Kingsville with a BS degree in Industrial Technology with a minor in Business Administration. She was part of the corporate world prior to being certified as a Special Education Teacher. She taught for 8 years in Public Elementary and Middle school . Ms. Benavides is enjoying her adventure as a part of CCA's family and this is her second year with Coppell Classical Academy. She has a special love for her 80 lb. Border Collie mix...Max...aka Maxipoo!
