Hello, everyone! My name is Kayla Doolittle, and I am excited to be teaching second grade this year at Coppell Classical Academy and honored to be a part of this outstanding community. It is important for my students to love learning as much as I love teaching. I am a certified teacher in Texas and have successfully taught second and third grades for the past few years, developing a passion for this age group. It is my role to help students learn the skills, motivations, and tools needed to academically and socially master the world around them. I earned my B.A. in Communications, magna cum laude, from the University of Denver. I’ve been happily married for 25 years, and we have a daughter and a son in high school. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, cooking, and long, morning walks! I especially enjoy boating at Lake Texoma where my parents live. My goal is to give each of my students the best education possible in a caring and supportive learning environment. I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect. I also believe that the student, parent, and teacher must unite as a team and work together to make school an enjoyable, successful experience with measurable results. I am looking forward to a positive, productive school year!

Ms. Eriksen teaches science and Core Knowledge at Coppell Classical Academy. She graduated from the University of Memphis in May of 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies: Elementary Education. While attending the U of M, she had the opportunity to be a part of the teacher education program, Ready2Teach. During Ms. Eriksen’s time in the rigorous program, she was able to participate in a year-long student teaching residency which prepared her tremendously for the world of education.
After graduating, Ms. Eriksen spent a year teaching pre-k at Collierville Christian Academy just outside of Memphis. The school held very high expectations of the students. The curriculum was based on the Tennessee Early Learning Development Standards (TN-ELDS) that directly correlate to the standards for teaching kindergarten in Tennessee. This experience taught her a lot about classroom management and lesson planning, as it was the first time she had a classroom of her own.
Ms. Eriksen moved to the Dallas area in June of 2012 to be close to her family and immediately sought out teaching opportunities. She prepared for and passed all of the required tests to earn her Texas Teaching Certificate. Ms. Eriksen became a substitute teacher for several schools and districts in the area.
